Our Process
From your first idea to a finished structure on your property. Six clear steps, no surprises.
Consultation & Design
1–2 weeks
Every project starts with a conversation. We discuss your property, your intended use, your aesthetic preferences, and your budget. If you've used our configurator already, we'll use your saved configuration as a starting point.
We'll visit your site to assess the grade, access, sun exposure, sightlines, and any local building requirements. This ensures your structure is designed for the specific spot where it will live — not just a generic footprint dropped on a map.
- Initial design conversation and site visit
- Review structure type, style, and intended use
- Assess site conditions and local requirements
- Preliminary sketches and design direction
Configuration & Quote
1 week
Using our configurator or working directly with Theis, we finalize every detail — size, wood species, finish, window and door placement, roofing material, and any interior options like shelving, workbenches, or electrical rough-ins.
Every configuration goes through an engineering review to ensure structural integrity, code compliance, and buildability. You'll receive a detailed quote with a line-item breakdown — no hidden costs, no surprises at installation.
- Finalize all configuration options
- Engineering review for structural integrity
- Detailed line-item quote
- Project timeline and deposit schedule
Material Sourcing
2–4 weeks
We source premium, sustainably harvested lumber from trusted suppliers. Whether you've chosen western red cedar, Douglas fir, white oak, or Scandinavian spruce, we select each board for grain quality, moisture content, and structural grade.
All lumber is kiln-dried to precise moisture specifications for your climate. Hardware, fasteners, and specialty components are sourced from manufacturers we've vetted over years of building. Nothing arrives at our workshop that we haven't personally approved.
- Premium lumber selection and grading
- Kiln drying to climate-specific moisture levels
- Hardware and fastener sourcing
- Material quality inspection on arrival
Crafting
4–8 weeks
Your structure is built in our workshop using traditional joinery techniques refined over generations of Danish woodworking. Mortise-and-tenon joints, dovetails, and precision-fit panels — the same methods used in fine furniture, scaled to architectural dimensions.
Components are prefabricated in controlled workshop conditions for precision and quality. Every piece is test-fitted, numbered, and finished before it leaves the shop. You'll receive progress updates throughout the build, including photos of key milestones.
- Hand-cut joinery and precision assembly
- Workshop prefabrication for quality control
- Regular progress updates with photos
- Final quality inspection before delivery
Delivery & Installation
1–2 days
Prefabricated components are carefully transported to your site and assembled by our crew. Because everything was test-fitted in the workshop, on-site assembly is efficient and precise. Most installations are completed in one to two days.
We handle everything — foundation preparation, component assembly, finishing touches, and full site cleanup. When we leave, the only evidence we were there is a beautifully built structure exactly where you wanted it.
- Professional transport and site prep
- Efficient prefab assembly on-site
- Final inspection and walkthrough
- Complete site cleanup
Aftercare
Ongoing
After installation, we provide a comprehensive maintenance guide tailored to your structure's specific materials, finish, and local climate. You'll know exactly what to do — and when — to keep your structure looking its best for decades.
Every Lunden structure comes with a 10-year structural warranty. We also offer optional annual check-in visits where we inspect joints, finishes, and hardware, making any adjustments before small issues become big ones.
- Custom maintenance guide for your materials
- 10-year structural warranty
- Optional annual maintenance check-ins
- Ongoing support and care advice
Typical Timeline
From first conversation to finished structure, most projects take 10–16 weeks.
Every project is different. Complex designs, custom features, or seasonal demand may adjust the timeline. We'll provide a specific schedule with your quote.
